To All: Was the hacking done on the Windows or Linux versions?
I have no idea what you are asking about. It's a website. Websites
don't have "Windows or Linux versions". Please don't try to turn this
into an "my OS is better than yours" rant. It had nothing to do with
Windows versus Linux. It's a website, and an open source one at that.
I'm pretty sure they use linux servers. Here's a reply about the
situation from the website moderator.

Hi all,
As some of you may have witnessed, the forum was partially defaced
yesterday evening (PST). After an initial assessment of the damage, it
does not appear that the server itself was compromised. It can be
confirmed however that the OOoForum administrator account was
compromised and that the attacker inserted defacing code into the forum
database.
Although a full analysis of the breach has not been completed yet, most
of the signs indicate that the attacker used a vulnerability in phpbb to
gain administrator access to the site. As soon as I have more details, I
will pass them on.
In the meantime, the forum software has been updated to a newer version
and a backup copy of the database restored.
Regards,
Ed

It wasn't an OS problem at all - it was a combination of hacking a
password and exploiting a software flaw - the "phpbb" vulnerability.
PHP is open source. Again, this isn't about Linux versus Windows or
even propriatary versus open source. Let's please not try to make it
that way. It's about some jerk with too much time on his hands and a
desperate desire for attention versus normal folks who just want to help
people with OOo.
Please don't try to make everything an attack on Windows or Microsoft.
Not everything is that simple. In fact, very few things are.
