Reminds me of the approach taken by RagTime, an advanced DTP program
for Macintosh some 15 years ago. Basically, every frame that you
created could be a text processing frame, or a spreadsheet -- natively
(Hmm. Memory is fading. I thought there was a 3rd option but can't
remember). It was _very_ convenient to work with.

(There's a free (as in beer) version of RagTime for Windows now.
It is worth trying -- it will give you a lot of new ideas.)
