This is more the message I intended to send:

You say you feel that it is important to discuss how to help the users on the
users list itself.

As an example of why that list might not be a good place for such a discussion:

While one such discussion is taking place, a few decide that this subject matter
is not for them, including one who could have brought several others to the
list. They stated their disappointment with the discussion and why, yet the
discussion continued.

A new summary of the results:

It seemed more important to the folks in the discussion to have their side of
the arguments heard, than it was to meet the needs of the users themselves, who
the list is designed to target.

My conclusion:

I believe it is an important discussion, because there are several issues in the
middle of it that it might be time to discuss. I'm don't agree that the users
list was the best place for it.

I'm not really into hammering this point home. I mostly stand behind many of
your points and your intentions. You are doing good work. I'm only writing about
it because I promised I would clarify myself.

I need to git onto other things now.... I'll likely come back to read more 
later.
