I guess I was looking for a brainstorming tool for diagramming purposes to
uses with the folks with the help desk expertise you mentioned a few
messages ago. I might just not be following, but can the Issue Tracker
serve that purpose?

No, I guess not really. It would be a place where one could attach files to share with others, and where comments can be gathered against a particular task. My vision was not the same as yours, so the Issue Tracker suggestion is off base.

I was hoping for something interactive, rather than asynchronous, but I
think anything we do will help.

I see. I missed that one. When I saw it done officially, it was done on a dry erase bd. I think I do it now just in my mind, which I realized only when someone pointed out that I do this.

For OOo tasks that might stem off one big overall task, I have created a list of
tasks, one per issue report, in the issue tracker, which allows others to pick
up on and perform any of the tasks, which is a crude way of performing the same
type of thinking pattern, and definitely one I have not yet used with a large
group of folks, but it could work. An example is a group of issues that contain
"FAQ collaboration:" in the summary field. It may be better to use this as a
secondary process to an actual fish-bone diagram, as suggested.

I was thinking that an outline might be a workable digital substitute, before I
read the notes herein.

Does anybody know much about mind mapping - could we share a FreeMind mind
map on OOoAuthors? Is this an appropriate tool for the exercise?

?? Territory is unknown on this end.
