Hi Peter - Thanks again for the reply. I'm going to be away from my computer for several weeks, a planned trip to visit the family.
Can I please put you on "hold" until I return?

This is my first experience with an "open source" program and my learning curve is climbing. I appreciate your follow-up. Talk to you soon. Best. =Russ

* I started the Install, clicking on the "install.exe" which came up (Yea!!) and I proceeded. At the "Copy and Extracting Program Files" sequence, the "Java Script required" dialog box come up.

Yeah!

I must have Java Script in my machine, but **I never seem to have a need to use it.

Why must it be installed on your machine? Do you know it is?

Then it requested that I insert the disc to proceed further (disc, what disc? I downloaded online)
because of the "file f_000number) was not found" explanation.
When I get to these "stopping" notices, I don't know a way around them. *

Can you please walk through step by step what you did?

*Thanks for your assistance. I'm wondering if OpenOffice is really worth it or will I get a whole new set of problems to deal with? =Russ*

Well, with any change there are new problems. I guess it depends how severe your problems with MS Office are. If you don't like paying $300 to a company that will shut down your software after you install it 10 times, then I would say switch.

Let me know if I can help further.
