Face it: the patch acceptance is not that bad, It's just there are not many patches.

Ok. It seems to be that people are saying that patches are generally submitted to the Ximian OOo group, rather than the OOo "official" group.

I think that was true, but progress has been made here with EIS, nobody speak about it here, but this is a real improvement for dev participation, just look at Helix support, it's now on cws :

Um, does anyone have time to contact the non-Novell people that do so, asking them what could be done by us to get the patches directed here instead?

Who is doing marketing about contributing in OOo ? Most of our conf are now explaining how the project is organized, how a developer can contribute, and so on. But this is quite new and we need to do more to advocate not only the product but also the community.

Lot of things have been done about collaboration between Sun and the community but this need to be tell and advertised. This project is moving on every day, may be we need a reporter, because most of those who are acting don't find any more time to report about it. For instance, a team of 5 could report about accepted and incubator progress and contributions (we are supposed to do it about news in NLC on com@ :)

Kind regards
Sophie

Dunno... maybe I'm just results oriented, but like... it seems the right kind of thing to do.

Regards and best wishes,
