Hello,
I'm nearly finished with my thesis, which I've composed in OOo. I ran
into very few problems, but I have some comments/suggestions for using
graphics in writer:

1) Postscript support. That's probably asking a lot, but it would save
me having to open each one in gimp, rotate and crop, then save as
png...

2) Frames are awesome! My biggest problem with in line graphics in MS
Office XP is that when I change the size of my graphics, they
sometimes go flying onto the next/prev page on top or (worse) under
other graphics, with or without its caption. With frames, that never
happens, I size the image in the frame and then place the frame where
I want (though sometimes the frame jumps to the next page if I resize
it incorrectly). However, a graphic only gets a frame if you add a
caption, so my suggestion is an option that will always wrap graphics
in a frame. I use the frame as a placeholder (i.e. for smaller
graphics... I set the frame to the width of the page so text doesn't
wrap)... so it's a very useful thing.

3) Resizing. A big thing for me is keeping the scale of my images. I
really like the shift+leftclick to preserve scale, however...
sometimes (I haven't been able to isolate this), the height of a frame
will not scale. I.E. I hold shift and click the corner of a frame and
drag it smaller. The outline scaled properly, but when I let go the
width changes and the height stays the same. I'd look into that

4) I like the positioning buttons for graphics (I.E. horizontal
center), but they do not appear when a graphic is in a frame, so I've
had to go into the graphics menu to center them.

Anyway... definitely keep up the good work. I'm happy I could design,
process and compose my entire thesis using open source software:
yorick (programming environment), The Gimp and, of course, OOo.

Cheers,
-Lance
