I'll be honest with you guys. I hate MS Office and I use Premium
2003. The only reason I use it is because Outlook integrates with
word for inserting addresses. The best word processor and suite I've
ever used is Lotus Word
Pro and the whole Smart Suite.
It's nice to meet another Lotus fan here. I love Lotus programs - or
rather they loved the same programs as I did. In the DOS days I was a
big fan of AlphaWorks, which Lotus bought. Later on I was using
Samna's AmiPro, which Lotus also bought.
I have never been a big fan of Microsoft's way of doing things. I feel
very much at home here with OpenOffice.org.
Point being I wouldn't change to your product even for free if you
couldn't
share the information in Outlook across all your programs. And as
far as I know you don't even have a contact manager which is the
first thing I would have done.
I've never bought Microsoft's point of view that you need to get all of
your software from the same company - Microsoft. I've always felt it's
better to let lots of different organisations do what they do best.
OpenOffice.org doesn't have their own address book, but it interfaces
with lots of different address books (including Outlook if that's what
you really want to use). It can connect with Mozilla's address book,
and the 2.0 beta also connects with Thunderbirds. Thunderbird will take
care of your emails as well as your address book, and also has an add
on calendar module called Sunbird.
To access your address book from OpenOffice.org, check out File /
Wizards / Address Data Source.
