I had a meeting with the main government agency for education in the UK
this week. They said they want to be sure to promote open standards and
interoperability and want some ideas from the community to move this
forward. This is new and recent so the pressure is mounting but it will
still take time. Interestingly, we just tried to fill in a form on IBM's
web site to be a reselling partner (at their request) It wouldn't work
without IE so we said why should we bother? The IBM employee said he is
embarrassed by the number of people complaining which shows its not just
a few and that the problem has been raised on a number of occasions but
the bureaucracy is such that nothing gets done - yet. There is massive
such inertia in the system but the tide is turning.
