This is more appropriate for the users mailing list (copied in). As your probably aware, end notes creates the text in a page style titled "endnote". I also cannot find a setting to remove the page break. I've also had a look at the xml generated and can't find it in there either.
It is potentially doing what it should however if you think that this ability would be advantageous to other users, file an enhancement request.
