Hi Daniel, comments in line... -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Carrera <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Jul 9, 2005 12:16 AM To: [email protected], [email protected] Subject: [discuss] OOo on Groklaw
Hey, OOo got a mention on Groklaw: http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20050708195827870 And PJ was nice enough to encourage people to help with the WordPerfect filters. :) Christian replies: Daniel, that was a really nice piece of networking that you did there with Pamela Jones. We really do need to work on getting lawyers to at least test free open source software. I have been trying to do that since 2001. Lawyers can get credit toward their Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (called MCLEs here in California). I have co-taught those classes with Josh Berkus, Rufus Loggren, and a systems administration for a major law firm here in the San Francisco Bay Area (who has asked that I not say his name on public lists such as this). We did get better than expected attendance, and there are companies and non-profits who will take on all of the costs of holding and publicizing those events, because they charge the lawyers who attend. One such group, for example, is the non-profit Bar Association of San Francisco. You can go here to see their list of MCLEs. http://www.sfbar.org/cle/events.html I have always assumed that the lead of a popular community project like Groklaw does not have time to answer her email, and so I have never attempted to email Pamela Jones. Also, I don't see that her email is readily apparent on the website. If you are in touch with her for following up with the above-linked article, please feel free to let her know that I would be willing to help by letting her know of my experiences in running a law practice on free open source software, and I would also be willing to share my experiences in conducting the two MCLE seminars that I co-led with Josh and Rufus and our other friend. Again, nice work, Daniel Christian Einfeldt 415-351-1300 skype ID: einfeldtsfca --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
