I will give you a workaround and then a suggestion.

1) You can export one page of the presentation to a PDF file and then in Adobe reader you can turn it into a graphic file using the convert to graphic tool in there.

2) You should file an issue to help implement this behavior in OOo.
The best way to have problems such as this evaluated is to file an
issue. Issued are used to both report defects in the software and to
propose that new features be added. For instructions on how to file an
