Having single threads burst to 50/100 messages over one weekend is
nothing new to this list, regardless of the subject. It happens when
someone hits a sensitive issue.

I'm insisting because I hope that the lists and their archives will
become less clogged and more useful, reducing at the some time the
load on moderators. Sounds logical to me.

Again, which matter? Running the list as they are now? If this is what
you meant, my position is that, since it overloads maintainers,
regular subscribers and archives, it inhibites OO.o's mission.

"efficient" and "corporate" seldom go together. Apart from that, *my*
understanding is that it can't get any better, using only CollabNet,
unless only subscribed users are allowed to post. Nicholas summed this
up, I believe, saying that these lists are run as private ones, when
they want/have to be public. Hence my suggestion: to put at
least a permanent request on the website for some external volunteer
with the right SW/HW setup to make everybody's load lighter.
