If it is then, shouldn't the developers be notified? Maybe they
could change the packaging to prevent this in the future.
the problem seems to be the tar file. I have submitted

Hello Oliver,
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for zeroing in on this. I'm sure
future installers(users) won't have any idea that you spotted this
agonizingly simple agonizing oversight and saved them from 10 to 40
hours of wondering and worrying about there beloved Linux system that
held all of their PRECIOUS data that they loved and cuddled and blah
blah blah ... AND NOW HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM THEM BY THIS HORRENDOUSLY
HORRIBLE ERROR THAT MAKES THEM WANT TO KILL THE DEVELOPERS IN A MOST
HORRIBLE AND HIDEOUS WAY. WELL, THE PACKAGERS, ANYWAY. Phewww. Well,
I got that off my chest, didn't I.
You guys (DEVELOPERS) do a wonderful thing for the rest of us regular
users who don't understand the incredibale miracle of FREE software that
performs the daily grind of writing and calculating and drawing and all
those things that are taken for granted by users of computers in this
day and time. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Excuse me while I wipe the tears from my eyes. :'(
Seriously,
Alex
