I have never tried breaking down anything as husge as what you have into that; but I know that using it is covered in some detail i some of the OOo books, presumably since the authors had to master the feature themselves to get the books out. If the document is already broken into chapters, then save each, individually as a file, and read up on master documents before reassembling them. I know that you have to do a certain amount of preparation and make the right choices when setting up the MD. But it sounds as if that would be time well spent. -- Andrew Brown The email in the header does not work.
