I know this is an international list, but I'd like to inform everyone that is interested in freedom in software about this.
The US Copyright Office is seeking to limit preregistration of unpublished work to an IE-ONLY electronic solution. They say that they are *planning* to support Firefox among others, but it won't be available when the rule would go into effect. Those of you who would like to voice your opinion about this, you can visit this website: http://www.copyright.gov/fedreg/2005/70fr44878.html And, with another blow to free enterprise, they are only accepting comments through *snail mail*. Not email, not a webform, not UPS, not FedEx, not DHL, *just* the US Postal Service. So it'll cost ya some ink, paper, and postage. Send an original and FIVE COPIES to: Copyright GC/I&R P.O. Box 70400 Southwest Station Washington, DC 20024-0400 It must arrive NO LATER than August 22. Just thought some people would like to know. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
