I'm doing this mainly to see if my membership has been automatically
dumped... (sorry to waste your bandwidth)
Some time within the last 36 hours, due to a clerical error (I upgraded
my service to a higher speed line and added 2 additional ip addresses
and they apparently completely blew it) my dsl provider,
SPEAKEASY.NET, decided to remove my email account and erase all of my
email. (This is the 3rd dsl provider I've had and they have ALL made
stupid blunders like this while I was with them.) They are "in the
process of straightening it out", and I can get email again, but nobody
knows what they deleted.
Naturally they also sent a 'no such user' reply to every email list I'm
on.
All 14 of them.
I now get to contact EACH of them to see if I've beed removed from the
list.
Moral of the story: don't upgrade your service. Go to a new provider
and when everything is working there, switch your email over
and THEN cancel the first provider altogether.
