no, first of all, Nate should search for an _existing_ issue
describing the problem, before filing a new one.
I'd say http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=42950 is a
good candidate.

Thanks Thorsten, I actually had done a search and the one issue that I
saw that I thought was the one I was seeing had a response something
like "can't be done" (with the explanation that OOo generated its own
scroll bars and that the touchpad didn't work the same way as a scroll
wheel and used some nasty Windows hackery.)
I like your response much better :) in fact I've already done the patch
as I type this. Unfortunately, it still won't scroll side-side but at
least I have the vertical scroll which is the one I use most anyway.
