Hello Kai & Christian!!
Could you provide some clarity as to why layers are no longer
available in OOo Impress?
Christian has already answer here :
"layer support where removed from impress in our ongoing conquest to
reduce user interface complexity from impress by removing features
that are more drawing application oriented. In the past impress had
nearly all features from draw simply because internaly its the same
application with different user interface."

I would like to see them restored.
and see also his answer about getting the feature back :

Kind regards

My question is who, why, how does a developer come to the usability
conclusion of the users. Yes Impress is probably the most hard application
of the OOo suite to compare with MSO or any commercial counterpart
(keynotes for example). But taking out features can make us push the gap
even further.
I wonder if there is a team-Impress, I know for a fact about the Team
Writer and Team Calc. I assume that Impress is really graphics which take
care of Draw and Impress. However we do need some type of directory of the
developers involved here.
And to which extend does this community have a say on what features are
taken out.
