but i wont speak with you about OPEN OFFICE
I am a EDP inside a company. We use the MS Word but i installed also the
Open Office 1 in three Windows PC for try.
But the employee does't wont use OPEN OFFICE, because for they are
difficult learn a new interface for use a "simple" editor.
Yesterday I installed OPEN OFFICE 2
..WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!!!
The new interface is easy and clear, it is similar to MS Word, and the
employee are happy!
I thing that for OPEN OFFICE the important point are only this, and not
the new features:
1- the stable ---------> OK i believe it is true
2- the compatible with MS office ---------> OK i believe it is true
3- The easy and complete interface ---------> OK with OOO2 it is true
4- the speed ---------> KO, it isn't quicly to open the files
Hi actually consecutive files are dramatically faster (first file might be
slow, but second one will be 1/2 the speed of MSO).
5- the weight ---------> KO, I open 2 file con MS Word 2000 and it use
35'000 Kb RAM <---> same files with OOO: soffice.bin: 115'800 Kb and
soffice.exe: 72Kb the us PC normaly have only 256 Mb and they use also
other program!!!!!!!!!
This is again because soffice.exe is one program which is much smaller
than open the complete MSO suite. 256 Mb is more than ok for Soffice.
soffice has been run on computers with 64mb Ram.
When OOO will be perfect in this 5 points, I will uninstall the MSOffice
from all company PC.
