Dear Niklas, But the dropdown Box does not accept range names in Calc,i.e., only references of the cells/range. But Excel accepts both. This is probably very easy to add.
Also, the "=INDIRECT( )" function does not accept range names in Calc either. And, how do you reference to the cell from one spreadsheet, say book1.sxc, to another, say, book2.sxc? (e.g., if I want, A1 in book1.sxc equals to A1 or even range names in book2.sxc) Cheers, Xutuan > -----Original Message----- > From: Niklas Nebel [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 30 September 2005 09:31 > To: [email protected] > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [discuss] Suggestion for spreadsheet > > > Noh wrote: > > In Excel, there is a feature which makes data entry much > easier when selecting > > from a constrained list (eg a list of employees may choose > one option from a > > list of pension plans or a purchaser of a car can choose > one type of wheel > > and one type of trim from lists of types of wheels and trim) > > > > In Excel, this is achieved by making a list of the options > somewhere in the > > spreadsheet and naming the data range.
