I have been using OO for about 2 years now both on linux systems and
Windows XP systems. I love it. To me it is far better then MS Office,
the only other office suite I have used in the past 10 years. I enjoy
being able to control a lot of the functions, its power to create and
read so many different formats, and the most important part it is GPL/GNU.
To me that is the wave of the future and the more I learn about the open
source community and its potential the more and more I like the way OO
works and runs.
This all being said, I have recently purchased my first MAC in over 25
years. OSx is a good OS with a lot of the great ease of Windows and the
robustness of the *nix kernel. The one thing I would love to see with
OO and OSx is more native support for your great product to run native
in OSx instead of having to call X. I have not been successful at
getting OO to work without running NeoOffice to control it.
I know OO runs native in Linux and Windows, I am asking for a OSx native
vs. I support the cooperation between SUN and Google and look forward
to the potential positive growth that combination can bring to java and OO.
