Well you could argue that MSO 2003 has XML support but you are right
that the defacto WP format is .doc. When MS change the default in Office
12 to be XML .doc will still be the most commonly used format for eg
mail attachments for some time. Question is how quickly people upgrade
to MSO12 in order to exchange in MS XML format compared to people
continuing to exchange in .doc and the growing number who will start
using ODF. I'm actually starting to get quite a lot of ODF attachments
because people know I use OOo20. My business consultant who didn't know
anything about ODF before he came in contact with me a few weeks ago
just sent me a Calc spreadsheet and the INGOT business plan as ODF
files :-)
