And based on the success of MSO, I don't believe that many people care about
the binding to the file format. Alternatives exist today, and have for a
long time, but MSO formats continue to dominate.


My wife works for a company that uses Mac's. I was trying to help her do some work that entailed consolidating data from various sources on both Windows and Mac hardware. They were using MSO for Mac so it was expected to be an easy task. It wasn't. Finally using OOo, 2.0beta, all the different files could be opened and integrated into one single file. Now they use Neoffice instead of MSO.

But where is the MSO version for Linux? :) Yeah I know about wine and crossover office but that isn't the same.
