Except that in a calendar invite, once accepted, the meeting is automatically added to the calendar - so the inviter is notified of who is attending, and the invitees have a reminder added to their to do list. And anyone can look on the calendar, either for the group, or individuals. That's one of the things you could get with a PIM that Thunderbird doesn't offer. It doesn't surpise me, it just annoys me when arguments shift 180 > degrees depending on the point that's trying to be made. I agree.
