So what ? Nobody said it wasn't a factor. What people said it wasn't THE factor. When you increase the cell number you're not only increasing the number of bytes (compressed or not) OO.o has to process. There's many other ways you're also putting pressure on the system, most of them probably scaling worse than system memory.
