No, they aren't.  He said "as far as I know" - he obviously didn't know
about you.  Therefore, at the time of writing the article, his statement was
a true one.  He was not aware of any amateur contribution to the OOo
codebase.  If he did not provide the caveat "As far as I know" then, yes, a
retraction would be in order.  But he did, so it isn't.
