Okay - I promise you that if you tell us what your program is,, and are
willing to sign the JCA - you can work as much as you want on OpenOffice.org
.

Look, OpenOffice.org doesn't pay anyone for anything. It's an open source
program. The workers here are volunteers - we don't *sell* OpenOffice.org -
we *give it away*. If you are looking to cash in on your idea - write the
program and sell it - or try to sell it to software companies - not open
source projects.

Sun Microsystems - http://www.sun.com/ - hires a lot of people to work on
the OpenOffice.org code, and their own propritary version called Star
Office. Sun might be interested in hiring you - but OpenOffice.org cannot.

If you want to make a career in software development - you might want to
start by learning what Open Source is, and how it works, and how to make
money with it - I can tell you that trying to pitch money making ideas for
improvements to open source projects is *NOT* it. There are plenty of
people with ideas on how to improve OpenOffice.org already. Sometimes I'd
pay someone to stop them from sending in ideas - but I'm surely not going to
pay someone to give us another one.

What's your idea? An Outlook-like PIM for OOo? A Media Player? A Web
browser? An Anti-virus program? An operating system? A personal finance
program? We've heard them all. Heck, I've suggested a few of those
myself. (and still do in some cases)

If your idea is truly valuable, then you should have no problems making
money with it - and I wish you luck with that. But don't try to extort a
job out of an open source project with it. There is plenty of work here -
but no jobs. If you'd like to help - welcome aboard. If you are looking to
make a quick buck by suggesting we add something we have neither the desire
nor resources to add - thanks, but no thanks.
