  I really like OpenOffice.org and recently finished a 200+ pages thesis using 
the most valuable options like master documents, etc. (this was version with 
1.1.x). I started using MS Office for this work, but soon gave up as their 
approach for document merge was messy at best.
  However, I had to switch back to MS Office in the meantime for a simple 
reason: the use of the spell-checker in bilingual (trilingual) documents. As I 
live in Switzerland, such documents are very common. I needed a word processor 
that had some kind of per-paragraph spell- and grammar-check. Switching the 
default language every time you change the language you write in (as I had to 
in OOo) is very annoying.
  I still have an eye on the OpenOffice.org development and evolution, but as 
far as I know, this feature is still missing. A quick search on the net didn't 
promise anything.
  I hope this feature request will be considered in a future release
