There are plenty of rumors about a Google PC or a Google OS - given the G's history, I'd look for an announcement on April 1 - if there's nothing on that day - it's probably not going to happen. I know you are probably right - but it seems a little off that an entire OS and Office suite would be quicker and easier to implent for a Web-Based company than a new website (which is all an AJAX based office suite would be). Writely - http://www.writely.com/ - appears to be based on Blogger technology, a technology which Google owns. Writely already has ODF support and PDF export. So it looks like it would be a good prototype, if not a good inclusion for a OOo-themed online suite. A web based office suite is most likely to be developed specifically to work > on the web.
