Thin Clients will greatly welcome an office suite.

Thin clients can already use office suites. We setup a set of thin clients at a primary school a while ago and they're running OOo.

Yes and is a pain to set-up, also is restricted to a LAN, a web app you dont really care if its a thin client, fat client, mobile etc, you just access the IP range. Similar to the way a groupware web app like Plone or eGroupWare will work.

Also a web-centric office suite put much more push towards intgretation,

Why? And why is that desirable?

Document automatization, centralized storage, better control of autentication, better collaborative scheme. An example is when you switch computers to edit a document on the LAN you asume other peoples identity since authentication is installation base.

A log-in method assume authentication when you access let say, the intranet. That makes it easier to track. Also a web based intranet-extranet is more secure and mobile. If your laptop gets stolen you can loose all that data.

Just to inject a little related info, thin clients today are not nessisarily the same as they were a few years ago. I remember when a thin client was little more than a dumb terminal, but in those days a hard drive was expensive, $200. US or more, today you can buy 80 Gigs for less than $50. Also Samsung is now working on a hard drive where most of the storage is done with flash memory and actual disk storage mostly occurs only when you initiate a shut down sequence. this is for laptops to lower power use. But the point is flash mem like in a USB key can replace the function of a hard drive. So a thin client can either have a hard disk because it is now cheap, or enough flash to serve your needs. I have a 40 Gig HD in this machine, but only 10 Gig is actually used, and I keep lots of junk, hours of music, Ks of photos etc. so IMHO flash of 10 Gig or so should be ample.
