The reason to drop native OS/2 support in StarOffice 5.2 was that for UNO (that first was incorporated in that version) we needed a lot of C++ language constructs (like exceptions and templates) we didn't use in our code before, but the OS/2 compiler we used at that time didn't support them all (at least templates wheren't supported by the IBM compiler at that time). So this was the dead end for OS/2 in our development.
