Being free is a good thing :)
I'm not an expert in any spreadsheet, but I've used Quatropro and Excel, and
am just starting to learn Calc. So far I'm impressed with.
Calc has superior manuals and tutorials for the taking. No purhase required.
Its easiy to navigate and find.
Support is more easily available through the mail lists and forums. Microsoft
forums aren't anywhere near as good.
Calc plays well with other programs. I can read Excel, export back to them
and email out a PDF it even exports directly to pocket excel I like the Idea
that I can generate HTML edit the file and stick it into a web page.
Calc is more intuitive. Doing new things with it seems easier to figure out
menus, everything seems to be easier to find and in more logical places. I
was able to create a line chart in less time than it took me in Excel even
though I've played with Excel more. I can find the things that I need faster.
Loading a Spreadsheet with a couple of previously opened Write documents
while I have 4 or 5 web pages open doesn't make my old computer cry uncle. I
have to be real careful with Office.
Upgrading is a snap.
Oh, yeah and its free.
