For an 8 page publication, one sheet has page 1 and 8/2 and 7, the other has 3

and 2,3 upside down.

In OOo Writer, you can use a A5 page style (portrait), choose Booklet
under pint options (see button down left in Print dialog) and set
theprinter so that it prints on A4 landscape.
