Using OpenOffice.org Writer or any other Wordprocessor program as an
HTML editor is a bad practise. It produces very poor quality code which
is not standards compliant. If you want to publish wordprocessing
documents to the internet use one of the following three alternatives.

1. Export the document as a PDF from writer and publish that.
2. Export the document as flash from impress and publish that.
3. Copy and paste to a specialised HTML editor, many are available for
free. All produce much better code than a word processor. Examples:
   - NVu, Amaya, Notepad ;)

Just because something can be done doesn't make it right. The real
benefit of the HTML editing side of writer is to import web page
excerpts from Firefox and Seamonkey. Often little or no hacking is
needed to make them printable.
