To start on Linux we already have mature PIM apps such as Kontact and
Evolution which are superior since you have a broader option of backends
(Outlook you are tight to Exchange). While Evolution, you will have
about
5 options for groupware systesms that integrate with it. Kolab being one
of them, and all that stack is also free and open source.
I like Evolution as a FLOSS equivalent to Outlook, but I've tried
unsuccessfully to get it to work properly with OpenXchange, the FLOSS
equivalent to Exchange. Is there a better choice of client to utilize
the functionality of OX within the Gnome world?
That is a question for OX really, like I said Evolution supports up to 5
different backends, however each backend should mantain the compatibility
with the clients. I am sure OX has a patch or working on a fix for the
evolution client.
