Hello,

I don't know, whether this topic already exists, but I think that it is one important missing feature, I am requesting for.

I think, that it is very important in a text editor, to see, in which line and column I am with the cursor, at the moment. But I didn't see anything like that in OpenOffice.org Writer.

OOo Writer is not a text editor but a word procesor so you wont see code really writen in it. If you want to use the Basic IDE it do uses a numer of line presented like other text editors. However we do show the line number on the lower bar of the OOoWriter interface.

I know, there exists a line numbering function. But this is not the same.
I think it is better, if you can see the line and column in the status bar (down).

I think a column works only if you are using a text editor which you dont use fonts and the text lack format so you dont have wider fonts that other. If we had columns you will end up with a type of grid. OOoWriter will have different width on a word that uses different font so the term of columns might become a bit blured.

It is a very important feature, if you want to write any form of business letters, where the positon of all letter text-elements are more important, than in other letters or documents.

I hope you understand why this is might not be practical from a word processing point of view. Once said that I guess you can make a macro that will count how many characters you have tipe on that line which will make the sense of a column.

@The developers: Please improve this!

Thank you and sorry for my bad English!

Regards,

Brams
