You mean like Office XP should have a warning that its vulnerable to macro viruses and can't directly export pdf files ;-) > Further, a reason, why open office is so desparately slow, should > be also included. > 2. open office has zero support for fitting experimental data with > mathematical > functions - this should be also as a warning on the main page. Another warning should be that OOo can save you serious amounts of money and nasty visits from FAST or BSA. > 3. asking for enhancements and reporting bugs should be possible directly > using > the open office - no one is intereset in filling out hundreds of boxes in > bugzilla and similar user enemy applications (sounds very hard, but comes > from deep interest and understanding :)) Maybe this should be a warning too. I can see with all these warnings its going to slow down the user much more than the few seconds it takes to start up OOo20 on Windows XP. If speed was such an issue most people would have migrated from Windows XP anyway. Its dog slow on my 2 Ghz laptop compared to Linux on my 1 GHz desktop. Speed and code efficiency are desirable goals but they are not as crucial to users as many people think. Reliable data exchange is much more important. > Dear hardcore developers, > please work on these problems, these are absolutely crucial features. OOo20 is much improved over OOo10 and it will improve further. > These aims should get a part for the official strategy, and should be also > on the main page. They are part of the main strategy and have been articulated in many forums. I'd agree that the strategy should be better presented on the OOo web site but even so, the OOo develpment strategy is a lot more transparent that that for MSO. -- Ian Lynch www.theINGOTs.org www.opendocumentfellowship.org www.schoolforge.org.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
