Many thanks. I can save Word 5 as rtf and open it that way, but to do that I will always need a system which runs Word 5. However Open Office on Mac OS 10.4, downloaded two months ago will not open Word 5 files. It will not open them using "open" command, either. Best, Rod Lakes
