On the old (Acorn) RISC OS it was possible to save files by dragging an icon in the 'save' box to any open filer window (or a window of any application that recognised the file type).
This is *very* much easier than negotiating a nest of menus. It also provides immediate confirmation of the save when you see the new icon appear in the filer window, as well as reinforcing the users idea of the *exact* location of the file.
