Have you tried? Numbers in A1:A10, A11: =SUM(A1:A10), A12: =FORMULA(A11) Unset "Extend references ..." Insert in A2:A10 always extends the summed reference. Deletion in A1:A10 always shrinks the summed reference. Now set "Extend References..." Insert in A1 extends the summed reference.
