The software includes a document converter.
Macros are different: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=38518
You could hire a programmer.
The OpenOffice Base module is fairly new. You may be better to use
another database (judging by comments I've seen, not my own experience).
There's also a management service which may be of interest:

Hi,
In my career, I noticed that one of the main issues in converting from
Microsoft Office to OpenOffice in companies is not necessarily the $
sign (even if it is a big issue), but the amount of work that will go in
converting hundreds (if not thousands) of Word, Excel etc. documents to
the new one.
I know - OOo reads and can save in those formats, but what is the use of
migrating if not using the proper format (loose formats, fonts, embedde
macros and else)?
The question is:
How about creating a tool that would "bulk" convert documents to OOo
format?
Tool that would also convert/import custom designed templates from
Microsoft Office (ok, MS Office might need to be installed, but in the
majority of cases, the official company forms templates sit on the
network in a shared folder, so a MS Office install on the desktop would
not be a requirement?
Anothe issue (but I am writing you about this) are:
- Heavily used macros in Excel worksheets - does the company need to
hire a programmer to convert the macros to OOo macro format?
- Heavily used Access databases companies have built over the years to
help them manage whatever they needed.
