Not really. It offends most purists, including myself. But it's not inefficient to run 32 bit binaries on a 64 bit system. I run OOo, Cedega and mplayer 32 bit binaries, and I really can't complain. > I'm now downloading sources to try to compile openoffice under 64 bits > architecture. > Is there any future support for 64 bits? Future, yes. It's not ready yet, but people are working on it. > I think that it is a good idea to develop a 64 bits native openoffice > to all 64 bits linux users Sure, but low priority. What does OpenOffice gain from working on a 64 bit system? Nothing. Maybe it can access > 2GB of memory at once, sure, but if OOo needs that much memory, something is very, very wrong. But native 64 bit support is coming anyway.
