If "automatic hyperlink recognition" is enabled, then it will

automatically change all "\\xxx" and "http://xxx"; etc. into hyperlinks.

There is no way to change

The help says that:

1. Press "Undo". But pressing "undo" undos text typed after

the hyperlink recognition. So if you type "A B" and "A" is automatically

changed to a hyperlink, and you type "undo" then you also lose "B".

And there is no way of retyping "B" without "A" becoming a hyperlink again.

2. Do "default style". But doing so change the whole cell to the default

style and you have to re-manipulate the cell's contents to your desired style.

But I don't want to turn off automatic recognition at this point.

So I would suggest that there should be a way of changing the hyperlink's

properties, e.g. text, target, etc., or changing it back no normal text.

Thanks.

Creating and using cell styles would make your task easier.

First, use Format >Default formatting to remove the link from your cell. The text will remain but it will no longer serve as a hyperlink.

Secondly, apply a cell style which incorporates the formatting you require.

To create and apply a cell style, use F11 (or Format >Styles and Formatting). A style can be linked to a keyboard shortcut using Tools >Customise : Keyboard.

I doubt that you would be able to suggest a better way of approaching this matter. If you can, why not file an issue requesting such an enhancement?
