Bernhard Dippold írta:
It does work for the gallery too, if the galleries are *not* shown
while installing the extension.
Anyway, IMHO it *should* work. There is no reason for a restart except
the fact that until now nobody planned for this feature. Technically it
isn't necessary to restart.
So what we need isn't a hint but a bugfix. :-)
Thanks for clarification.
KAMI: Perhaps there would be a chance to update the galleries after
installing the extension?
Yes, it would be nice...
Besides that I wanted to remind all interested people to my
documentation at
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Non-code_extensions
Especially for gallery extensions you should read the issue
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70412
as it points out possible problems.
Please also make sure that you create issues for all the problems you
discover when working with "non-code" extensions. We are very interested
in them.
I don't have enough programming knowledge to know if a problem occurs
because of the extension's code or it's implementation in OOo.
With KAMIs package [1] I discovered a strange behavior of the
progressing bar: The package loaded in about 10 seconds, but the bar
just started to move after eight seconds (WinXP, Intel Pentium
1,66GHz, Core Duo, 2 GB RAM / OOo2.1.rc1).
I think this caused the relative big size of our packages...
It would be nice if you could send me a comprehensive list of all found
issues (even those you created already) to my OOo account (my user name
is mba) so that can add it to the documentation mentioned above.
I could file an issue (component framework, subcomponent UI or
extensions/www ?), if you want me to.
Even better: if you have an account for the Ooo wiki, please attach the
list of issues as an additional section yourself.
I think it's a good idea to have a central place where all work on
non-code extensions comes together and can be tracked easily.
Perhaps we should think of a central repository containing additions
to OOo directly downloadable from the program. These additions should
not only be extensions and packages, but single items as well directly
to be loaded into the galleries or template folders.
Yes nice idea. Look kde-files.org... Or the MS site. I discussed a lot
with Petr Mladek about this. Brainstorming is here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Feature_-_Templates
I could imagine a well designed static web page with thumbnails for
every item downloadable and automatically installing by a single click
...
It could be dynamic and user oriented.
And in OOo there should a menu entry (or gallery entry) "download more
..."
Adding menu element with http link to website is easy in OpenOffice.org.
But we have to create a good website for extra contents...
Just an utopia...
Best regards
Bernhard
