A logical progression for OpenOffice would be the addition of a monthly 
planner calendar that can be saved on the hard drive as well as uploaded 
to a web site. The Google free calendar is of no value when one is away 
from an internet connection. I am not a programmer so I can't be of much 
help there but I am a graphic artist and could offer some ideas for
