Hi,
You are pretty much talking about sections, this can be done by going to
the Insert > Sections which encapsulate the content and you are able to
either show it or hide it. However, the automatization process might need
to be developed. Have you though on what would trigger the content to
become a summary or it's extended version?

Dear Sirs, Madams,
What I really would have for a few years now is a multiple layer
document.
MS Word has not open source, and I hate the idea MS would make money out
of
it, so I tried to create it myself - and I thought ofcource of
OpenOffice.
As I said this was a few years back, but I'm not really sure wether I can
make such nor I have the time to focus. So I just hope you can fulfill
this
wish of mine.
The idea is very simple. It is as layers in Photshop for instance. Let's
make an UseCase document. This document should be read by Customers, by
chiefs, managers, testers, deveopers, architects etcetera. I imagine the
customer would not like to see much detail once the document has really
developed when he/she has to make a judgement, nor would a project
manager.
A tester or developer though, would very much see all the detail.
Wouldn't
it be nice thay ycan all read the very same document not disturbed by too
much or too little detail or even hide some layers which are not
applicable
at some moment. If one could authirize certain layers to certain roles
etcetra. The advantage also is that if there would be some change I do
not
have to change it in multiple documents. Of cource the document is smart
enough not to leave whitespace when some parts of the document are
hidden.
There are many examples to think of, but Ii chose one from my daily life.
Let' u start with Writer first, but one minute brainstorm should feed you
with many ideas for Calc.
Thanks, regards,
