Well, the Novell version of OOo has support for 60-80% of Excel-macro's.
In all cases, there is a warning when macro's are loaded. Users are
asked to allow loading them. If you don't know the source and/or trust
the macro's, don't start them.
Problems come when macro's can execute without user permission. But
there are no known possibilities to do so in OpenOffice.org.
I am not willing to open up my data due to viruses. And since
Microsoft Office 2007 on the Mac is not going to have VBA support, I
would have to recommend people who use Macs use Microsoft Office
rather than NeoOffice, because they are safer from viruses that way.
The sounds counter inuitive, but if VBA is included with
OpenOffice.org, there is a tremendous potential for viruses and many
people will likely switch to another suite instead, me included.
I've heard many people giving other reasons to leave the Ms-Suite on
the Mac. Portablibilty of documents, to mention one. But that has
nothing to do with your original question.
