One problem I have with Openoffice.org Writer is the inability to edit
WordArt generated in Word 2003. Of course, I suspect that this is due
to Microsoft's lack of file format documentation. Nonetheless, it
would be fantastic if we could do the needed reverse engineering to
get this working. In addition to lack of WordArt editing capability,
I find that the WordArt rendering is poor (grainy) compared to Word
2003.
I notice that some textboxes with text rendered vertically instead of
horizontally, get rendered in the wrong place on the page. Further, I
notice that when I attempt to edit vertical text, the text gets
displayed horizontally while I do the editing. I think it'd be much
better to do the editing vertically.
Please know that I love OO.org and am a big booster of the software.
The WordArt issue has recently come up as an obstacle in my promotion
efforts.
