Tom,
you're right, the Solaris installation instructions
(download.openoffice.org/2.1.0/instructions.html) are simply missing. I
opened issue 73802 for this, thank you for that hint,
you'll find a more complete setup guide on
http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/2.x/en/SETUP_GUIDE.pdf
for your reference,
Martin

Hi.
I'm running Solaris 10. I downloaded 2.1 for Solaris. There were no
install/launch instructions for Solaris with it. There was a readme with
Solaris stuff. I installed all *core* packages first and then the other
packages in the order listed in the directory using:
pkgadd -d `pwd` <package name>
I had to manually answer "y" to all package installations. Seem to
install okay. Launched using /opt/sfw/openoffice.../programs/soffice.
Launched fine but when I tried to exit (File->Exit) it hung and I had to
kill the soffice process manually.
Comments?
